Frequently Asked Questions

Here you'll find some of the most frequently asked questions – and their answers.

Riding Safety

The handlebar feels unstable
Our Moovi e-scooter folds quickly and compactly. The design of the patented folding mechanism therefore requires a certain amount of play. However, this play has nothing to do with instability or safety defects; our folding mechanism has been tested under the most extreme conditions and is very safe.
Please check: The hex screws on the underside of your Moovi must be adjusted so that the red border of the "Push" button is visible. Only then is the Moovi fully engaged! Adjust it by feel so that the play is as minimal as possible.
Does the cargo system tip forward?
No! You don't have to worry about the cargo system tipping forward while riding. The attachment supports the weight 5 cm in front of the axle. At the back, the footboard acts as a counterbalance at a distance of 50 cm – with ten times the leverage!
How do I brake correctly?
Braking correctly with an e-scooter is very simple. The main brake on the Moovi is the electronic brake in the motor on the rear wheel. The front drum brake provides additional safety as a supplementary brake. The system is complemented by a rear coaster brake – together, all three ensure a safe braking experience.
Where am I allowed to ride my e-scooter?
E-scooters with road approval may be ridden on cycle paths and cycle lanes. If these are not available, you may use the roadway. Sidewalks are off-limits!
Moovi doesn't go 20 km/h?
Factors such as a proactive riding style, good terrain conditions (e.g., gentle inclines and flat, asphalted surfaces), body weight, and outside temperature can have varying effects on your Moovi's performance. Although your Moovi may not currently be delivering the desired maximum performance, it is likely to be in order. It's possible that your Moovi is incorrectly configured, which can be fixed by adjusting the "P8" parameter setting: To access the menu, hold both buttons on the display for approx. 3 seconds. Once in the menu, briefly hold the upper button until P8 appears. A number will appear here, which should be set to 100. To exit the menu again, hold both buttons together for 3 seconds.

Product & Technology

Why is the Moovi more expensive than other e-scooters?
The Moovi uses high-quality brand components such as Samsung batteries. Additionally, it features a unique, patented transport system. Quality, safety, and modular expandability justify the price.
Can I retrofit my old Moovi without road approval?
A subsequent conversion is unfortunately not possible – for several legal and technical reasons: For the new, road-legal models, we had to officially register as a vehicle manufacturer. The approval required extensive tests and structural adjustments, including the correct mounting of the license plate, the installation of an additional brake, and the replacement of reflectors with certified cat's eyes. In addition, each scooter must be sealed: As a vehicle manufacturer, we must ensure that the Moovi is secure against manipulation.
These requirements cannot be technically applied retrospectively to an existing, unregistered model – a retrofit to StVO (German Road Traffic Regulations) conformity is therefore excluded.

Since sustainability is important to us, we offer customers who have already opted for an earlier Moovi model the option to send us their old scooter. The submitted scooters are overhauled and donated to charitable organizations or professionally recycled and reused by our technical support.
What can I do if my license plate holder is broken?
That's annoying, but it can happen that the license plate holder breaks off. For this, we have our spare parts, where you will find our license plate holder, which you can order directly. This will quickly get your Moovi back in working order. If you prefer our technical support to carry out the replacement, you can send in your scooter and we will take care of it. Isn't 330 watts too little?
330 watts is absolutely sufficient for urban use. The motor is optimized for efficiency and offers enough power for inclines up to 15%.
Which rear tire should I choose?
By default, your Moovi comes with a special Honeycomb rear tire. This tire, equipped with air chambers, promises a particularly smooth ride, as the air holes in the tire cushion every bump like honeycomb. Above a total weight of 110 kg, the running properties of the Honeycomb tire become slightly worse as it no longer sits optimally. This can reduce the range. Therefore, we recommend the solid rubber tire for people weighing 100 kg or more, as it has better rolling properties under stress.
Is the battery replaceable?
Yes! Even though the Samsung Li-Ion battery is permanently installed, you can easily remove and replace it. This way, you can carry a spare battery if needed and double your range.
Is the motor power sufficient?
Optimal coordination of the motor, battery, and energy management is crucial for the efficiency of an e-scooter. When developing the Moovi, we therefore deliberately asked ourselves what goal really makes sense under the given legal and usage-related specifications.

95% of all scooter users never ride further than 10 kilometers at a time. A significantly heavier battery for 60 kilometers of range would therefore unnecessarily consume weight, costs, and resources. The Moovi is specifically designed for micro-movement – the so-called "last mile". It is small and light and can therefore be easily taken on buses and trains, which is particularly important for commuters who travel a few kilometers to the train station and from there to their workplace.

What incline can the Moovi handle?
Basically, the climbing ability depends on the rider's weight, the battery's charge level, the outside temperature, and road conditions. As a rule of thumb, you can expect inclines of up to approx. 15%.
The steering column does not engage
The most common reason for the steering column not engaging correctly is overly tightened locking screws on the underside of the Moovi. You adjust the mobility of the steering column using the two hex screws on the underside. If you notice too much play in the steering column, tighten the screw a little. Important: Only tighten the screws enough so that the red border of the "Push" button remains visible when unfolded. Only then is the Moovi properly engaged and ready to ride. The folding mechanism has been tested under extreme conditions and cannot unintentionally fold when correctly engaged.
Does the cargo system also fit other e-scooters?
No, our cargo system and its universal mount have so far only been specifically developed for our Moovi e-scooter.
Problems with the battery indicator
To deliver optimal performance and range, the Moovi must be charged to 42 volts. Only then is the battery fully charged and the indicator displays correctly.
The sleeve or hinge on the handlebar is stuck, how can I fix it?
The sleeve must be pried open with a tool. Underneath this sleeve is a small screw that is causing the blockage. The screw needs to be turned in a little, a half to a full turn at most. The screw serves to stabilize the sleeve; if it is turned in too far, the handle will have too much play. If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please contact our support at support@moovi.de
